Instructional Assisting
Career Opportunities
To prepare students for work
in K-12 and related educational institutions at the paraprofessional
level under the supervision of those with professional degrees and/or
to serve as the first level of training in a career ladder leading to
professional degrees in education. It is anticipated that future
developments in the field of education will contain many openings at
the paraprofessional level.
In order to provide intermediate recognition of students’ achievements,
certificates of achievement are available in three areas:
- Instructional Assisting: General
- Instructional Assisting: Special Education
- Instructional Assisting: Bilingual/Bicultural Emphasis
Certificates should assist students' job search. Students proposing
entry into this program should consult with counselors and Early
Childhood Education instructors before pursuing it.
