I received my Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Frankfurt - Main, Germany. Since arriving in the United States I have taught Art History at most universities and colleges in the Sacramento area, including UC Davis, Sacramento State University and the Los Rios Community College District. I served as Director and Curator of the Pence Gallery in Davis for 15 years, curating over 150 exhibitions. During two double terms at the Davis Civic Arts Commission I participated in the creation of the vibrant art venue that Davis has become and served as juror for twelve of Davis' public artworks.
The visual arts and music have been the major focus of my entire life, providing me with never-ending insights and pleasures. I love to advocate for and teach art, because the understanding of art requires an open mind and a willingness to accept different modes of expression. Art offers infinite world views and therefore fosters tolerance. This is perhaps the most meaningful outcome of my teaching.
