Philosophy
I try to teach the "basics". color, design, composition while having my students do works of major interest to them.
We go slowly, but their own ideas are strengthened. And because the subject is a personal one, I hope the rigors of designing are remembered for future works of art.
I learned most rapidly this way. I turned simple exercises into personal expression and I've been exhibiting those expressive large watercolors every year since 1976!
