Metal Design: Emphasis In Casting

Advisory: ART 380 (Techniques in Metal Design) or 381 (Intermediate Techniques in Metal Design); with a grade of "C" or better.
Hours: 36 hours lecture, 54 hours laboratory
Description: This course covers historical and contemporary approaches to centrifugal casting, wax patterns, and the aesthetic aspects of metal casting for small scale sculpture and jewelry. Basic methods and techniques for wax working, kiln burnout, centrifugal casting, and metal finishing will be emphasized. A field trip to an art gallery, museum, or artist's studio will be required.
