ARTICLE V

Section One: Student Rights

It is declared and self-evident that all students of SCC are equal, and that no student shall be discriminated against due to disability, gender, race or skin color, religion, creed, sexual orientation, or national origin, and shall have the following inalienable rights:

1a. The right to vote in student elections.

1b. The right to participate in and file grievances against the ASSCC and their ASG.

1c. The right to alter or disband the ASSCC and their ASG through an election at the point it no longer represents the wishes of the majority of students voting in the election. A petition containing signatures equal to 75 percent of the number of total votes cast in the last general election shall be a valid petition. The petition shall be presented to the Judicial Branch and, upon validation of the signatures, an election shall be called. The election shall be determined by a simple majority vote. For the vote to be valid, 75 percent of the total votes cast in the last general election must also be cast in the current election. If this requirement is not met, then the election shall be considered to have failed.

1d. The right to recall any ASG Officer, Senator or Judicial Branch member. A petition containing signatures equal to 50 percent of the number of total votes cast in the last general election shall be a valid petition. The petition shall be presented to the Judicial Branch, and upon validation of the signatures, an election shall be called. The election shall be determined by a simple majority vote. For a recall vote to be valid, two-thirds of the total votes cast in the last general election must also be cast in the recall election. If this requirement is not met,then the recall shall be considered to have failed.
