- About Interactive Television / Web Stream Courses:
- An ITV / Web Stream course is a live classroom presentation which is broadcast in partnership with the Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium, on SECC Cable 15, 16, 17 or 18. These channels are carried live on:
- Sacramento area Comcast cable system (Channels 15, 16, 17 & 18)
- Surewest Broadband (Channels 17, 18, 21 & 22)
- AT&T U-verse TV (via the Channel 99 menu)
- Students may attend by coming to class or viewing the class at home.
- Off-campus students use the telephone to participate in the live class
- Classes are also recorded for later viewing in the Instructional Media Center.
- All ITV / Web Stream courses are posted to the Streaming Archives on the web in windows streaming media and flash video format for review and later viewing by students. Audio MP3 podcast files are also available for listening or download. This archive is maintained as a service to students who need access to the course material for review purposes. For access to the ITV Archives:
- A computer capable of playing Windows Media Player files or Flash video files is necessary to view streaming videos.
- A computer with speakers or a connection to an MP3 player is necessary to download/listen to the MP3 podcast files.
- A high-speed internet connection is recommended if you will be accessing the streaming video or audio MP3 files.
If your instructor requires you to access Desire2Learn (D2L) as part of the class:
You'll want to make sure you have access to the Desire2Learn Sample Class, which will take you through how to navigate and use many of the common features in D2L. Log in to http://d2l.losrios.edu using your student ID number and your Los Rios password. Once you've logged in, click on the link titled "Self Registration" in the upper right corner of the screen. Here you can enroll yourself in the D2L Sample Class. In about 30 minutes or less, you will have completed the course and familiarized yourself with the D2L learning environment.
