Dr. Gwyneth Tracy

DRC Coordinator/Counselor

Gwyneth Tracy is the new DSPS Coordinator. She has worked with community colleges for over 27 years in the states of Washington and California.  Her experience encompasses vocational education, ESL, job placement and counseling for students with disabilities. She has an Associate degree in English from Hartnell College, a Bachelor’s degree in English from CSU East Bay (previously Hayward), a Masters in Adult and Continuing Education from Washington State University and a Doctorate of Education from Oregon State University. She has two rescue pets- a monopelegic parakeet and a hyperactive Australian Cattle dog.

Leslie Parker
 Learning Disabilities Specialist/
Counselor 

Leslie Parker, Learning Disability Specialist/Counselor, earned a B.A. from UCLA, an M.S. in Educational Counseling from the Univeristy of La Verne, and an M.A. from Sac State in Learning Disabilities/Special Education. She formerly worked at Sierra College and the San Juan Unified School District. She is active in various state-wide organizations that suport post secondary education.

David Hagerty
Instructor
 
David Hagerty began teaching adults with learning disabilities in 1995 as a volunteer tutor in a literacy program.  Six months later, he accepted a job with the Alameda County Library's Jail Tutoring Program.  In 2002 he joined the faculty of Sacramento City College.  He holds a bachelor's degree in English from Vassar College and a Master's degree in Special Education from CSU East Bay (formerly Hayward).  He is also the proud servant to a bullmastiff named Manny who was rescued from a shelter in Los Angeles.

Nisha Beckhorn

Counselor

Nisha Beckhorn comes from American River College, where she worked as a DSPS counselor.  She has a B.S. in Psychology from UC Davis and an M.S. in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from CSU, Sacramento. Nisha was raised in a palace in India and is multilingual.  She speaks Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and English. Nisha is happily married and the mother of two brilliant boys!

Stephanie Clar
Counselor

Stephanie Clar has experience in all levels of education from elementary to college counseling. She has a B.A. in Education from the University of Michigan, an M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Michigan, and an M.S. in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from CSUS. After completing an internship at the DRC at SCC in 1993, she spent several years working in the SCC Learning (dis)Abilities program. She is delighted to return to the DRC. Stephanie helps rehab injured birds in her spare time.

Anita Sanders
Student Personnel Assistant

Anita Sanders has worked at Sacramento City College since 1996. Prior to her tenure as DRC Student Personnel Assistant, Anita was the counseling clerk first for the SCC Learning (dis)Abilities Program and later the DRC. Anita has an A.A. in Social Sciences from Sacramento City College, a B.A. in psychology from The Union Institute, and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology at The University of San Francisco. Anita has a darling dog named Sammy.

Liz Johnson
Assistive Technology Specialist 

Liz joined the DRC on April Fools Day, 2002.  Before working at SCC, she was a computer and network support technician at Valley Media in Woodland.  She likes working at SCC because she can put her computer skills to good use by helping students with disabilities.  If you let her, she will tell you all about her three dogs, Willy and Oliver and Scotty.

Elaine Stagner
 
Lead Sign Language Interpreter

Elaine Stagner has worked in the DRC since 1999. Elaine has worked for the Los Rios Community College District for 15 years as an Educational Interpreter and teaches ASL part-time at ARC and Sierra College. She is a graduate of the ARC Interpreter Training Program and earned her California Community College Credential at CSUS.  Elaine loves all dogs, but most especially Boxers.

Linda Hibbard 
Student Personnel Assistant

Linda has worked for the Learning Disabilities program since 1995.  She has been involved in all aspects of our Learning Disabilities program.  Currently Linda runs our extremely busy proctoring center.  When she's not serving our many students here at SCC, she can be found serving hordes of young adults at home.

Samantha Turnquist
Instructional Assistant
 

Samantha has been an Instructional Assistant with Sacramento City College since October 2005. Before becoming an I.A. she worked as a student assistant in the HCD 83 and HCD 85 classes. As an Instructional Assistant, Samantha loves helping students achieve their true potential and empathizes with the challenges that come with learning disabilities.

Janelle Pettler
Alternate Media Specialist
     
Janelle has worked at Sacramento City College since August, 2002. She works closely with the DRC, though she is located in the Learning Resources Department. Janelle earned her Bachelors Degree in Economics at UCLA and holds a Masters degree in Education (Instructional Technology) from San Francisco State. She is married to Matt and they have a doggie daughter named Abbey.
