Professor, History
About Me
After high school, I attended Diablo Valley College in Concord, California, where I earned an AA, and then I went on to the
University of California, Davis, where I earned a B.A. (International
Relations - 1983). I then spent several years working in business and politics before I returned to UCD to earn an M.A.T. (History - 1991), and a Ph.D (History -
1999).
I taught my first course at Sacramento City
College as an adjunct professor during fall semester 1990, and I have been a full-time professor at
SCC since 2001.
I
am particularly interested in the intellectual
and cultural history of the United States and California, especially
the broad cultural conflicts and political struggles in those societies over the meaning of freedom and liberty - my analysis of
those conflicts provides the thematic foundation of many of the courses I
teach at SCC.
My courses at SCC:
History 310, United States History through Reconstruction History 311, United States History since Reconstruction History 344, California History History 483, an Honors course in United States History through Reconstruction History 484, an Honors course in United States History since Reconstruction
