I'm so impressed that Jory Hadsell, DE Coordinator, was able to make a knockoff theme for our Manila sites that looks like the new campus web pages. Very cool Jory!

Podcasts - The world as you study partner - MESA presentation. Using itunes to search for podcasts with educational content related to your current classes. And several Sac City faculty are already using audio podcasts to support student success.

ePortfolios Hunterton High School was featured at the NECC conference. Read the blog, see the movie: http://www.bryanbell.com/2004/07/14

How much web space is enough? I recently found a weblog that references an important standard for the content of our lives. Shakespeare's complete works can be stored in 5 MB of space. I think the study is referencing his final work, not including all the in progress work! But still. And yes, his work was words, and mine is a mix of words, images and audio. My laptop has 20 GB, and what do I have to show for it? (http://www.rebeccablood.net/index.html)

I'm still mining the features of Manila. Checkout my Manila Tips page to see my experiments.

Believe it or not, I am usually playing follow-the-leader with technology. Here are two examples: Personal Digital Assistant and Inspiration.

Mai-Gemu Johnson, MESA/Math, is my PDA guru. Now I live by this little device. It frees me from the teather of my keyboard. How? Well it is sync-ed to Outlook for my calendar (not email!). When I walk around campus and a colleague wants to schedule a meeting, I can make it on the spot and after the PDA is cradled, my desktop computer with Outlook is updated. For three years, other colleagues had raved about their PDAs but none of there uses inspired me. Mai-Gemu's did. Thanks pal! Another object of our affection is the Apple iPod. As a musician, Mai-Gemu's interest is a natural. For me, I'm enjoying listening to audio-books and mp3s.

Speaking of being "inspired," over the summer I took a class on how to use the software Inspiration. Liz Locke, Disability Resource Center, showed me this software two years ago and stressed how useful it is for students. They create diagrams to 'map' their assignments. WOW! Liz ... now I get it! This is powerful software.
