Bb - Send Email

Blackboard has a feature that acts as a listserv for class members. You can send email to all, or selected users. You can configure Bb to allow students to send to all users or all instructors.

You want to test this feature early in the class because email sent from within Bb is sent as a BCC. Some users report that email sent as a 'blind carbon copy' is automatically moved to their junk mail folder.

Ask your students to update their email address in Blackboard's Welcome page. Tools > Personal Information > Edit Personal Information > Email ... then click the Submit button.

Confirm students have updated their email by checking your class list. Control Panel > List/Modify Users > Search button > review the list for properly formated email addresses instead of a student id.

As faculty you can access the Send Email through the Control Panel > Send Email > All Users. There are other options to send to all groups or specified users/groups. You will see a list of students that have not yet updated their email address. So they will NOT get your message!
