Updates FOR Fall 2009 & beyond New Excel file is linked below. In partnership with Alan Keys, I added a worksheet for easy reporting of Student Learning Outcomes in 2007. Want to know more about SLOs - visit http://web.scc.losrios.edu/slo

Updates FOR Fall 2005 & Spring 2006 More improvements based on your feedback and feature requests. The major change is to just download ONE file for all attendance patterns. A minor change is a calculation for class average on scores has been added.

http://web.scc.losrios.edu/instrdev/excelgradebook

This is a resource page for the workshop on using the SCC Excel Templates to create a gradebook. This template includes

  • tracking attendance
  • tracking assignments
  • calculating final grades and assigning a letter grade
  • calculating class averages on graded assignments
  • a worksheet to track Student Learning Outcomes

Online Access to Rosters & Submit Final Grades

Use this list of files from Fall 2005 as a starting point for ONE Excel file for all attendance patterns. (Part of Excel's magic is to see the formula's update the date!)
NEW - Download the revised (Sp 2010) Latest Excel Gradebook Update with SLOs and Student Info on the first worksheet, SLO's captured in the first 10 columns of homework, quiz & lab worksheets, and an SLO worksheet for easy review and printing. (January 2009 revision added columns for Attendance worksheet.)

Are you not sure learning about spreadsheets is right for you? Are you a knitter? Here is a site with tips for creating your own patterns using spreadsheets or word processors, cool what you can find on the web! http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter04/FEATcharts.html
Another way of using Excel is to count, that's right, not just to sum or to average. In 174 day counting calendar 2009-2010 used by Librarians, Coordinators, Counselors and Nurses this Excel spread sheet counts days of the month that have a number (or a space!) within a range of cells. There are sums involved, but this is a interactive planning tool for what if analysis. The Format Painter tool is also used on these worksheets prepared for Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday schedules. Compare the interactive worksheet with the layout version of the 174-day worksheet. If you have additional ideas for improvements, let me know!
