Online-Hybrid Classes
Here is the basic information you need before signing up for an online math class. Please read this information carefully. If you have any questions please contact the Math/Stat Division Office.
Description: Our Online-Hybrid courses are online classes in which students are required to come to campus once each week. The day and time you are required to come to campus is listed in the class schedule. Most learning will be done using the course website. The website contains the text, video lectures, and other tools to help you learn the material. In addition, your instructor will be posting "lecture" notes, exam reviews, and other supplements.
Homework: Expect to do some online homework and some written homework.
Quizzes: Quizzes may be online or written. Most instructors give weekly quizzes.
Other Assignments: You may have other assignments and/or projects. Written Work: To get completed written work to your instructor, you may fax it, send it as an email attachment, or drop it in your instructor's mailbox on campus.
Exams: You are required to come to campus to take all exams. Exam dates and times will be provided by your instructor before the semester begins. Be prepared to show your picture ID at each exam.
System Requirements: You MUST have access to a newer IBM-type PC.
E-mail: You must have a valid e-mail account. All Los Rios Students are automatically assigned a campus i-mail account. Please activate your i-mail account. This is the account that will be used to communicate with you before the semester starts. Once the semester starts and you register with the class website you may use any email account that you check on a regular basis. Be sure to check your imail account before the semester starts. Your instructor will be sending important information to you both before and during the semester.
Course Website Access: Please contact your instructor for information. You will be required to purchase the course software and/or access to the course website.
First Class Meeting: You are required to attend the first class meeting for an orientation. You will be asked to show your picture ID at the orientation. IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND THE FIRST CLASS MEETING, YOU CANNOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Please bring your proof of prerequisite to the first class meeting.
Prerequisite: You must bring proof of meeting the prerequisite to orientation. You may bring a copy of your assessment test or an unofficial college transcript showing a grade of “C” or better in the prerequisite class. You will be required to give a copy of your document to the instructor. This copy will not be returned. We do not accept high school transcripts. We do not accept any Self-Assessment Tests.
