Hybrid Classes
Here is the basic information you need before signing up for a hybrid math class. Please read this information carefully. If you have any questions please contact the Math/Stat Division Office.
Description: Hybrid classes are a combination of traditional lecture and online learning. Typically, you will be spending three hours each week in class with your instructor. During the additional two hours each week you will be using the course website and other resources to supplement the lecture. Please note that the additional two hours is not time dedicated to homework. The homework is in addition to the two hours. Your instructor will be monitoring you in a variety of ways to ensure that you are meeting the two hour requirement outside of lecture.
Homework: Most required homework will be done on the course website.
Quizzes: Quizzes may be online or in class. Most instructors give weekly quizzes.
Other Assignments: You will have other assignments and/or projects.
Exams: All exams will be in class.
System Requirements: You MUST have access to a newer IBM-type PC.
E-mail: You must have a valid e-mail account. All Los Rios Students are automatically assigned a campus i-mail account. Please activate your i-mail account. This is the account that will be used to communicate with you before the semester starts. Once the semester starts and you register with the class website you may use any email account that you check on a regular basis. Be sure to check your imail account before the semester starts. Your instructor will be sending important information to you both before and during the semester.
Course Website Access: Please contact your instructor for information. You will be required to purchase the course software and/or access to the course website.
Prerequisite: You must bring proof of meeting the prerequisite to orientation. You may bring a copy of your assessment test or an unofficial college transcript showing a grade of “C” or better in the prerequisite class. You will be required to give a copy of your document to the instructor. This copy will not be returned. We do not accept high school transcripts. We do not accept any Self-Assessment Tests.
More Information From Your Instructor: Your instructor will be sending you e-mails with more specific information about the class you enroll in.
