Promoting Children's Social Competence

ECE 322

This course is designed for teachers in early care and education programs as they support children's development of social competence. The course includes strategies for understanding and responding to children's behavior in ways that are congruent with the core values of early childhood education. Concepts of guidance relating to development, culture, and environment will be presented.

This is a new course Fall Semester 2005.  This class is designed to help teachers with guidance and "discipline" issues in their classroom.  During the course students will develop a personal philosophy of guidance and well as a manual to support other staff with whom they work.

For Fall 2005 this course meets on Monday/Wednesday at 4:00 to 5:15 upstairs in the Child Development Center.
