I make the Spanish characters using the following:
á = ALT +160
é = ALT +130
í = ALT +161
ó = ALT +162
ú = ALT +163
ñ = ALT +164
¿ = ALT +168
¡ = ALT +173
There is also a web site where you can type your text entering the Spanish characters and then copy everything to your file or e-mail. It's http://spanish.typeit.org/ I hope this helps you.
