CSS - need help here

My background is in graphic design. I liked the early days of the web becasue of the User-Centered focus. I was finally free from the tyranny of letter size paper! Each user controlled the font and font size of my web pages. Then site designers started controlling font and size (urggh!), page layout for the web was born. Page layout options include creating tables for layout of page components and CSS.

Cascading Style Sheets are new territory for me. All I know is that if I want to work efficiently and redesign sites quickly, then an understanding of CSS is key.
