Service Learning

Welcome to to the Service Learning Web Page.

Student Information

Service-Learning makes the connections between classroom education and community service explicit.  You will find real world meaning in course concepts, information, perspectives and theories. Unlike internships and volunteer work, Service-Learning makes the connections clear by connecting theory and practice.  In addition students become both a student and citizen-leader as they help to meet a community need.  Service-Learning requires 15-20 hours of volunteer work.

To participate in Service-Learning follow the easy steps below:

  1. Click on the links below to learn more about Service-Learning at SCC.
  2. Find a Service-Learning course.  The course will be designated as a Service-Learning course in the schedule of classes after the course description.
  3. To register for INDIS 340 use the INDIS 340 registration code listed with the designated Service-Learning course in which you are registering.  You can find current Service-Learning courses on this website under "Service-Learning" quick links, in the schedule of classes and on flyers placed in plastic holders outside room RS 282.
