NOTE! THE INDIS 340 unit which is typically added onto a Service-Learning course will not be offered this Spring 2009. However, Service-Learning oportunities will still be available as an option, in several Service-Learning designated courses. Sevice-Learning may be offered as extra-credit or as a regular course assignment--check with the instructor of a Service-Learning designated course. Student Orientations--if you are interested in learning more about Service-Learning and finding a placement be sure to attend one of three Service-Learning orientations-which will be scheduled during the second and third weeks of the semester. Service-Learning is an opportunity for you to link a course to community service. Through the learning process of structured reflection and/or other instructor assignments you will gain a deeper understanding of course concepts, engage in meaningful service benefiting the community, and have a chance to apply classroom learning to real world problems.

The SCC Service-Learning program staff can help you find a current course that offers a Service-Learning option, suggest placement ideas, and provide requested information.
