@ONE
Summer Distance Education Workshops

. . .About @ONE
The @ONE project was first funded by the Chancellor's Office of the California Community College in 1997 to enhance instruction and services through expanded uses of technology in the colleges. @ONE has established a comprehensive statewide training and development infrastructure to support faculty and staff at the 109 California Community Colleges.

Development of @ONE services and resources has been based on needs assessments conducted in 1998 and 2000, discussions with practitioners and input from the @ONE Team and Advisory Committee. The @ONE Study and Review, 1997-2001 highlights those resources that have been most valued by faculty and staff in the system.

Starting in July 2002, the fiscal agent for the project is Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, CaliforniaFunding for @ONE is from the California Community College Chancellor's Office Telecommunication and Technology Infrastructure Program (TTIP).

Mission
The mission of @ONE is to assist California Community College faculty and staff to enhance student learning and success through expanded uses of effective technology by providing training, online resources and support.

Los Rios Online Employee Training
 Online Learning Center

To ensure an appropriate, professional environment for our students, staff, and faculty, every new employee has thirty days to complete the on-line training program.

There are several courses to select from; however, you are only required to take the following:

  • Preventing Sexual Harassment
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Preventing Workplace Violence
  • VIPs Very Important Points: New Employee Training
  • The training will take approximately two hours to complete.
  • Managers and supervisors will allow you appropriate time and computer access to complete this on-line training.
  • It is your responsibility to complete and pass the courses on this on-line training within thirty days of hire.

Course Description

  • Preventing Sexual Harassment - Learn to recognize and avoid sexual harassment. Gain a good understanding of the concept of sexual harassment and what to do if you encounter it at your educational institution. Learn the special responsibilities of managers with respect to sexual harassment.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens - This course provides an overview of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standard requirements applicable to emergency response personnel in school and college districts. You will learn about specific pathogens, exposure control, vaccines, sharps, and post-incident clean-up.
  • Preventing Workplace Violence - This course is intended to help you understand what workplace violence is, indicators of the potential for violence, techniques to help prevent violence and diffuse a violent situation, and what to do following an incidence of workplace violence at your educational institution.
  • VIPs: New Employee Training - This program is designed to provide new employees working in school and college districts with very important information about how to respond to emergencies, their special duties relating to students, and their job related rights/benefits.

Instructions

  • Click on "Visit the ASCIP On-Line Learning Center" located on the bottom of the page.
  • During your first visit to the site you will need to self-register. When self-registering, please use your legal name as it appears on your Social Security card.
  • Under the Self-Register heading, click on "Click Here" to self-register.
  • Your user ID: first initial of your first name and first initial of your last name followed by your birth date (no spaces) in 6 digits (MMDDYY). Example: CD060255
  • When self-registering, you will only need to complete the first five lines (First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name, User ID, District, Site or Department).
  • When selecting District, scroll down and select "Los Rios Community College District."
  • When selecting site or department, click on your "specific campus;" if you are a District Office, Ethan Way or Facilities Management employee, click on "District Office Staff."
  • After the first log on, you will be able to sign on just by typing your User ID, so be sure to remember/retain your User ID for future use.
  • Once you are logged in, it will take you to the Course Catalog.
  • Under category, "All categories" should be chosen, then click on "Search."
  • Choose a course by clicking on "Select". There are four courses you need to complete:
    • Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Preventing Sexual Harassment
    • Preventing Workplace Violence
    • VIPs Very Important Points: New Employee Training
  • Next, click on "Take Course" to begin the course.
  • There will be a quiz at the end of each course. You will know upon completion of quiz whether you have passed or not. If not, you are required to re-take the course and the quiz until successfully passing.
  • If you have any problems logging on or completing the training within thirty days of your employment, please contact the Human Resources Department at 568-3107 (for classified employees or supervisors) or 568-3109 (for faculty and management employees).
