Workshop Topics
Scheduled and "by request" workshops are available on topics such as time management, test taking skills, and proofreading skills. Workshops are typically offered in both the fall and spring semesters. Please check here for the May Study Skills Workshop Schedule. We welcome new workshop suggestions from faculty, students, and staff. Brief descriptions of our current workshops are listed below:
Time Management Workshop
- "Time is on my side, Yes it is!!!" Come learn how to get time on your side.
Test Taking Workshop
- This workshop covers how to get ready for test day and strategies to use during tests.
Learning Styles Workshop
- What is your learning style? How can you best learn with that learning style?
Proof Reading Workshop
- Come to this workshop to practice finding your own writing errors before turning in that paper.
Presentations
- A how-to workshop on preparing for a presentation or speech covering tips and common mistakes applicable to all students.
Notetaking/Textbook Reading
- Combination of two workshops toegether which help students learn, study and succeed in any course.
Research Papers
- Learn the skills necessary to succeed in writing a research paper for any course including research, analysis and stynthesis of information and drafting, revising and formatting your paper.
Academic Honesty Workshop
- Do you know the "core principles" of academic honesty? Come to this workshop to find what they are and why they are important.
Textbook Reading Workshop
- "I read the book, but I couldn't remember anything for the quiz." Does this sound familiar? This workshop will help you develop a successful strategy for textbook reading.
CSU Writing Proficiency Exam Workshop
- Come and find out what writing skills you will need in order to graduate from a California State University
The Benefits of Being a Tutor Workshop
- Would you like to work on campus, sharing your knowledge and helping other students? IF so, this workshop is for you.
Math Word Problems
- Learn different techniques of solving word problems. Take the mystery and anxiety away from these types of math exercises.
Math Lecture Tips
- Learn different approaches to learning from math lectures. Learn how to make the teacher's lecture work for you.
Math Study Tips
- Learn different ways to make learning math better and more efficient. Learn how to make your time spent worthwhile and productive.
Math Anxiety
- Are you afraid of math or nervous about the idea of learning math? Then this workshop could be your answer. This workshop focuses on how to obtain the ability to learn and master the subject.
