About
I have been a full-time professor of Mathematics and Statistics at Sacramento City College since 1985. Previously, I taught high school for five years at St. Francis High School in Mountain View, CA. During the 1990-1991 school year I taught at Spokane Falls Community College in Spokane, Washington.
I was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 1978 with a B.S. in the Teaching of Math. I then moved to California and earned a M.A. in Mathematics from San Jose State University in 1981.
I live with my husband, Keith Atwater (professor of Humanities at American River College) and two children (Paul, age 18 and Maya, age 13) on 15 acres in the foothills near Placerville. Besides teaching math, I enjoy the Beatles, Adam Lambert, World music, non-motorized water sports, camping and backpacking, jogging (working on my 3rd 1/2 marathon), reading, and American tribal-style belly dancing!
